Local Rambles

THE MONTHLY RAMBLING GROUP. October 2010

Hello,- Ramblers.

Having read the September 2010 2nd edition of STA newsletter and in particular the paragraph on rambles I am now willing to book lunches in advance on our Sunday rambles.

The next ramble is at Upnor on Sunday 31st October and lunch will be at the King’s Arms. The post code is ME2 4XG.

In my original list for the year I had one in November starting at Nelson’s Column, travelling by train from Dartford Station. We could still do this one or perhaps one more local. Last year the ramble at South Darenth was cancelled on the day due to heavy rain. Let me know which you would prefer.

Please note that any ramble that I organize has no connection with STA. Also this proposed list is assuming that if there is a social committee next year they will continue not doing rambles as per the newsletter.

Proposed list for 2011.Details to follow .

January:Otford
February:Shorne.
March:Crockenhill
April:Bluebell.
May: Oare Marshes
June:West Malling.
July: Ash.
August: Yalding.
September: Reculver
October:Upnor.
November:London
December:Farningham.

Annual General Meeting – Thursday, 31st March, 2011.

The Annual General Meeting of the Association will take place at The Clock Tower Pavilion in Swanley. Normally presided over by our President, The Mayor of Swanley, you will hear the Annual Report and be able to elect the Management Committee for the ensuing year. This is the time to voice your opinion an any matter concerning your Association. Afterwards, join in the complimentary Ploughman's supper with cheese, wine and soft drinks provided.

The chairman will be putting forward a proposal that , in future, the AGM will take place in June (not March). This is to enable the elected committee to plan the annual exchange (including hosting) and execute the hosting in April/May. By June the president for the ensuing year will also have been duly elected and will be able to chair the AGM when the election of the new committee takes place. Hopefully, this will result in a stronger, more integrated team able to fulfil the functions of the association for a full year.

The existing committee has volunteered to continue in office until June 2011 so that it will be able to plan and host the annual visit from Verrieres.

Annual Exchange

Our friends from Verrieres will be visiting us at the end of the first quarter next year. Plans for a excellent excursion and a special meal are already being made. We will be looking for hosts, as usual. Details to follow.

Others

Regular Quizzes are held once a month in Farningham Village Hall, for which we often make up a team.

Details of the A.B.C. visits will also be advised.
