SWANLEY TWINNING ASSOCIATION NEWS
September , 2010
Editorial
Welcome to our latest News Letter.
Since my last Newsletter (January 2010) there have been some changes in the running of the association. There is nothing in these changes that should result in anyone being deprived of any activity they formerly enjoyed. On the contrary, it is to be hoped that our activities will be joined by an increase in the number of participants.
I hope you enjoyed the last Newsletter, some of you even had colour pictures. I'm sorry the popular "Snippets" were missing. In this issue they will again be absent due to this having to be an "emergency" issue.

Twinning for all
The committee have come to the conclusion that we do not necessarily require new members to preserve the association. What we do need is greater participation in the main organised event, that of twinning. In future we intend to invite ANY member of the public to join us in our expeditions to France, whether they are members or not. This brings us directly into line with Verrieres. We can advertise "Join us for a weekend in France with a French family. Your payment per head will include full return travel between Swanley and Verrieres, local travel in Verrieres, accomodation, meals and excursions to places of interest. Families or individuals welcome" - something on those lines.
In the past we have required participating Families to offer return hospitality. This will no longer be a requirement. Families DO NOT have to return hospitality. Only if they wish to offer, we will gladly try to fit them in. But they are under no obligation to do so.
Local Rambles
Rambles are a popular way of socialising among the association. Long may they continue. However, the committee have come to the conclusion that they can no longer be committed to arranging such walks in the future.
In future any person wishing to arrange a walk may pass the details to the Chairman. He will put them in the next Newsletter and publish them on the Web "swanleytwinning.org.uk". It is up to the initiator of the walk to publicise it to their friends or anyone else who they think may be interested. They may or may not arrange lunches. It is entirely up to them.
Further, as the association no longer sponsors the walks, Swanley Twinning will not be responsible for insurance matters on the walks. We are there to publicise them only.
We will be happy, as formerly, to report the outcome of any walks, provided details are sent to the Chairman.
I hope that these arrangements will suit everyone, and the actual walks will continue much as before.
